There is one small mention of a mine hidden somewhere on the base of this mountain in a local history book and I have been wanting to go look for it for years. I set out by centering myself on the base of the mountain right on the steep face. I hike east moving up and down the terrain hoping to spots signs of activity left by the activities of mining. Features that would stand out would be cart paths, stacked rocks, old walls and I'm assuming all the leftovers they pulled out of the earth. Its a chilly January day here in New England with a bit of snow on the ground so the conditions are good for scouting in the woods. I have read all the maps I could find as well as hiking all around the other sides of this mountain. Lets go and wish me luck while out exploring and doing some winter hiking.
