A police officer was killed on after one o’clock this morning on San Pedro. Corporal Alfonso Guy had been stationed on the island for years and had been socializing with a friend prior to the shooting death inside his quarters. While police this morning said it was a murder investigation, late this evening, an official reports details what happened inside the quarters. Twenty-five-year-old Josue Danillo Villatoro Amador, a Honduran waiter, was playing with a nine millimetre police-issued firearm when he pulled the trigger causing the firearm to discharge, hitting the officer to the abdomen. Guy was alive when a first responder got to his room. Police have two persons detained, one who was found with the weapon, while the other has told police that the firearm accidentally discharged.
