Retreating Blade Stall

The helicopter blades flap to equalize lift across the rotor system. Unequal lift across the rotor system is called dissymmetry of lift. When the helicopter exceeds the ability to flap enough to equalize the lift, this is retreating blade stall. The pilot must lower the collective in order to reduce the angle of attach when this happens.
