Use Checklists To Ensure Job Quality Be honest...

You’re terrified something is going to go wrong if you’re not on the truck doing the work.

You know how I know?

Because I was there. I walk 100 miles in your shoes.

So you’re not going to fool me.

But don’t worry, good old Uncle Jae has some very good news for you.

I want to assure that you if you’ve done your job right in training the guys that the job will get done right most of the time.

If job quality does suffer...well that’s on you.

BUT...

And it’s a BIG “but.”

It doesn’t have to.

What if I were to reveal to you a tool that everyone knows about, but few are actually using. And if they are using it then they are using it well.

This tool is called “Checklists.”

You should have a checklist for every job, supervisor, department, and division in your company. There shouldn’t be a hat that doesn’t have at least one checklist.

By using a checklist you can assure quality within the company. BUT YOU HAVE TO USE THE CHECKLISTS.

You should have a checklist for everything. A checklist for when a lead comes in. Checklist for estimates. A checklist for vehicle maintenance.

You should even have checklists for when sh*t hits the fan.

Someone leaves a bad review for your company...yep that’s right there is a checklist to address that.

One of the crew needs to have some discipline...Checklist.

Damage claim...Checklist.

Are you smelling what I am stepping in?

A good friend of mine says that a company that has a system in place and used increases the value of that company by 3 to 5 times.

If you are looking at opening new locations or even franchising then you’ll want to have checklists.

The more checklists that you have the less human error can occur...if they are used and followed.

And another side benefit of checklists is you can quickly and clearly see the trouble areas of your business. The usage of checklists will show you where things are breaking down in your company...

Then by using a checklist, you can resolve that breakdown.

Now...

I have written up some basic checklists for you. You can get them here. Or got to the files section on the left-hand side of the group page and look for them there.

Feel free to use them as you see fit. Alter them. Modify them. Improve on them to your heart’s content.
