I seek refuge in Allah (SWT) from the accursed Shaitan.
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
"My Lord, expand for me my breast [with assurance], and ease for me my task, and untie the knot from my tongue, that they may understand my speech."
Juz 14, Surah Al-Hijr, verse 3:
“Leave them alone to eat and enjoy themselves and be deluded by false hopes, for soon they will find out the Truth.”
Allah SWT tells prophet (SAW) that, leave them alone, don’t bother yourself too much about them. They are not worth this botheration. They have come in this world to enjoy and have fun, so let them have it. Now we can see that the making of eating and drinking the real occupation and aim of life, and keeping glued to long drawn material plans while surrounded by countless things of worldly comforts, and becoming totally heedless to death, this is something which can only be done by a non-believer.
The reason is, that they do not believe in the Akhirah. The life to come and the accounting of deeds, or reward and punishment. And as for eating and drinking, a believer does it too and takes care of economic needs to the measure of necessity, and makes future plans for occupation and business, as well. But a believer would not make all these efforts by forgetting death altogether and ignoring the concern for Akhirah.
Therefore, he is careful about everything he does and finds out whether it is permissible or impermissible. He does not occupy himself in the making of wasteful or unnecessary plans and projects, as a hobby or as a compulsion. Hasan al-Basri said, four things are a signs of being unfortunate.
1. Not being able to shed tears. This means tears due to shame or tears due to gratitude or love to Allah.
2. Hard heartedness. This includes having no compassion, no soft corner for anyone.
3. Fancy-full hopes and plans for the future. This means being so drowned and engrossed in those plans that you forget your death and Akhirah altogether.
4. Greed for worldly things. This means that all your energies and capabilities revolve around worldly gains.
