Reagan Radio Commentaries - Education Between 1975 and 1979, with one interruption while he unsuccessfully ran for the 1976 Republican presidential nomination, Ronald Reagan offered his thoughts on current events, 3 minutes at a time to a radio audience of 30 million.

Education was a relatively common topic for Reagan to discuss. These are 2 back-to-back conversations about the wild experiments being performed in schools today.

In the first, Reagan reads a letter published in Newsweek magazine on August 30, 1976. The writer is a former student of a "progressive" school in the Greenwich Village area in the 1950s. I was able to track down the article. I have made it available:


In the second, he discusses the economics of education. The cost of educating a child has gone up significantly more than inflation, but much of the increase has been in non-teaching positions.
