American Express has been busy at work updating and improving its lineup. From the release of the Cash Magnet with new artwork, to the updates on the Gold card, Amex has done a lot. Now, it looks like the Blue Cash Preferred is getting some new treatment. In it's current state, the Blue Cash Preferred would earn 6% back on select grocery stores, 3% back on Gas and Department Stores, and 1% back everywhere else. With its new reward scheme, the card will remove department stores from its 3% category, but will be adding in a streaming category for 6% cash back, and a transit category for 3% as well.
In addition to the reward changes, the card will feature a new look - similar to the artwork of the Cash Magnet. On top of that, the card will be a contactless card.
If you are an existing Blue Cash Preferred cardholder, you can request the new card by logging into your account, hitting account management, and then card services. From there, you will want to click on replace card, and then when they ask you for a reason why, select the option that states you want the contactless card.
