One thing every nomad needs is some electricity and solar power is the best way to get it—but what if you can’t afford it? We have some very good news—a Phoenix solar distributor by the name of Santan Solar has made an extremely generous donation of forty (40) used 245 watt solar panels to Homes on Wheels Alliance, the 501c3 that my partner and I Suanne have recently co-founded. We are excited beyond words to start getting these solar panels out into the hands of nomads in need! Our plan is to have an application process and distribute the panels on a sliding scale basis determined by your income and circumstances. Depending on need, some people will get a complete solar kit (including installation), and others will get just the panel. The most important thing right now is that the entire nomadic community reward Santan Solar for their amazingly generous gift!! Luckily, it’s very easy for me to recommend them to you because they have the lowest prices on solar I have ever seen! If you will check out their webpage, I think you’ll be blown away by their prices! And, because they are in Phoenix, they are right in our area of travel in the summer.
But that raises a problem, it’s too hot to be down there most of the summer so we took the 45 panels and stored them in the storage unit that HOWA has near Quartzite and we will begin to distribute them next fall when we all return to the desert.
