Greetings and welcome to another review. Today we take a look at the Replica Thompson Submachine Gun awarded during the first contact day event this year, and a very fitting reward indeed. As most of you probably know, in the movie "First Contact", captain Picard guns down some pesky borg intruders in the holodeck, which is running his favorite detective program, by turning off the safety protocols and pumping them full of lead using a tommy-gun. The scene is so infamous that it's become a meme and a beloved moment for the whole franchise, so most people were excited to find out the Thompson was coming to STO. However, you've probably already seen the thumbnail and know that not all right in paradise. The weapon itself is incredibly fun to use and looks great, but it has two glaring flaws at the moment. First, it suffers from incredibly low damage for some reason (possibly due to it being a replica, but I don't really know), and second, it cannot currently be re-engineered. At least it couldn't when I tried it. They may have plans to change this later, so we can keep our fingers crossed. Just how bad is the damage? Let's compare the base model with the mk xv epic model with a stock mk xii polaron beam rifle from the gamma store, all recorded on the same character on a ground map where bonuses should be applied. The stock Thompson has a dps of 47.4. The epic mk xv version has a dps of 72.8. The stock polaron mk xii rifle has a dps of 116.5. Most of my other epic mk xv weapons have dps numbers in the 200s. Frankly put, it's a pitiful amount of damage for such an iconic weapon, but it's great for space barbie and fun to use, which is why I'm (sadly) giving this one a final verdict of 6/10. Thanks for watching. Have a great day, and I'll see you in the next video.
