A Look at the Original Castlevania In 1987, Konami would release one of my favorite games of the 8-bit era, Castlevania. It had a feel and sound to it that was so different from the stuff Nintendo was doing themselves. Here, we take a look at it.

Episode Notes:

1. NES gameplay captured via a NES Classic.

2. DC footage from real hardware.

3. Many don't know it, but Castlevania here was ported to MSDOS, the Commodore 64, the Amiga, and the MSX.

4. This game was originally released in Japan on the Famicom Disk System.

5. Both the X68000 Akumajo Dracula, and the SNES Super Castlevania IV are remakes of this game.
