Serena Williams, Maria Sharpova & Lindsey Vonn Attended The Vanity Fair Oscars party

Serena Williams, Maria Sharpova & Lindsey Vonn Attended The Vanity Fair Oscars party But that didn't stop stars of the slopes and the courts take to the red carpet to turn heads at the Vanity Fair post-Oscars party in Los Angeles.

Leading the glamour, alpine skiier Lindsey Vonn joined tennis aces Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams as the entered the do - which is considered the most glittering event of Academy Awards night.

Wimbledon winner Serena stunned in a semi-sheer gown in black and blue, adorned with a floral sparkling detailing.

The skirt of the ensemble featured a black multi-layered tulle which cascaded down to the ground.

She slicked her locks back to perfectly showcase the diamond statement earrings she accessorised with.

Other jewelry included a statement watch on her wrist, in a rose gold design.

Maria looked stunning in a slate mini-dress detailed with crimped ruffles.

The leggy blonde showed off her tanned pins in the dress, which cascaded down her athlete's frame teasing her lithe limbs and her torso beneath.

She flashed the flesh in the baggy number, sweeping her locks atop her head and showing off glistening earrings to compliment the outfit.

She finished the look off with strapped black heels, a neural manicure and pedicure and a natural make-up palette, clutching a silver purse by her side.

Skier Lindsey showed off her physique in a lace number, teasing her torso beneath.

Unlike Serena and Maria, she wore her locks loosely. Her honeyed tresses fell in a loose plait down one shoulder and she added a veil to the ensemble.

She added colour to the look with a pop of bright red lipstick to her pout.

Rather than a host, this year's Academy Awards recruited 'highly recognized talent from various walks of life' to present the eight nominees for Best Picture, a role usually reserved for actors.

Those talents included anti-Trump chef and restaurateur Jose Andres, Daily Show host Trevor Noah and civil rights leader and Georgia congressman John Lewis and the woman who many consider to be the greatest athlete of all time, Serena.

This new line-up of presenters is the latest in a long list of changes made by the Academy this year. It began with the announcement that the Best Song nominees would not be featured in the telecast, a decision that was changed following public uproar.

Next was the decision to discontinue the trend of having the actors who won in each category last year present at the ceremony.
