Judicial Reforms is Common Man's responsibility, not the work of Legal Experts

Judicial Reforms is Common Man's responsibility, not the work of Legal Experts Let us stop expecting that judiciary will be made accountable or transparent by politicians or eminent jurists, or for that matter, the Law Commission. Let us stop waiting for the empowered people and the experts to take up judicial reforms as an agenda. That will never happen, because the present system of judiciary favours them, by enabling them to dominate and control the common man while themselves escaping accountability. The rich, the powerful and the privileged have no incentive to change the present judicial setup, and they have every reason to favour the status quo, as it favours and supports them.

To make judicial reforms happen, we have to be determined that it will happen within our lifetimes, and indeed, it will happen within the next 5-10 years. We, the people of India, including aggrieved litigants and ordinary lawyers, will have to make judicial reforms happen.
