Rep. Ginny Klevorn (DFL Plymouth) is authoring a bill that would develop a lodging tax in the city of Plymouth. Klevorn says the tax would allow the city to benefit from the people who visit for events like hockey or soccer tournaments. It was introduced in February. “When we have people come into our community, they will also use our regional assets,” explains Klevorn. “This will give us an opportunity to use some of these resources to grow, develop and enhance the assets of our community.”
The money generated would be used for capital improvements to recreational facilities as well as marketing and promoting the community. It was introduced in February.

Plymouth Ice Center (PIC):
PIC hosts more than 20 hockey tournaments a year that serve more than 400 teams.
PIC drew 445,000 visitors in 2018
PIC hosted 2018 USA Hockey National High School Tournament
PIC has welcomed teams from 50 of the 87 counties in Minnesota, from across the nation and Canada.
Plymouth Creek Center (PCC):
PCC draws more than 300,000 visitors each year.
PCC hosted more than 150 regional events in 2018.
PCC is used by 13 high schools, 18 athletic associations and 12 universities from across the region and out of state.
PCC Field house hosted nearly 2000 hours of activities in 2018.
Additionally, Plymouth has nine athletic complexes totaling 48 fields that drew players from 68 cities and six states in 2018.
