He rose to fame as Serena van der Woodsen's love interest Dan Humphrey, a.k.a 'Lonely Boy', in Gossip Girl.And Penn Badgley, 32, has finally touched upon the similarities between his character in the CW series and his portrayal of Joe in the hit Netflix show You.Speaking to The New York Times, the American actor confessed: 'Any part of me that was resisting the Dan Humphrey comparison has stopped because I’ve come to recognise how much of this is a surreal progression of Dan Humphrey.' Throughout Gossip Girl, which began airing in 2007, viewers were left on tenterhooks as they tried to figure out the identity of the titular blogger, who often referred to outsider Dan as 'Lonely Boy'. Dan was ultimately revealed to be the titular blogger in Gossip Girl in the show's finale in 2012 - leaving fans in complete shock at having the wool pulled over their eyes when it came to the core morals of his character.
