Thanks for tuning into the second Vlog from NBF. Things are quiet at the farm so this week i've decided to make the first 'business tips' video, reflecting on how the lessons i've learnt can be applied to your own business, social enterprise or other project:
0:50 Tip 1: Be careful who you tell your idea to
...because when your speak to the wrong people about your ideas, you can get the wrong reaction. Their reaction tells you about them, their background and perspective, not about your idea.
2:50 Tip 2: Start with your goals and work backwards
...you need to work out what you want and need from your project in order to plan how to achieve that. Whether it is time, money or fun you want, you can only make your project work for you if you plan the project to achieve those things.
5:14 Tip 3: Stay flexible and respond to opportunities
...one thing that is almost guaranteed is that your project will not turn out how you intended. But when you put the effort in and respond well to challenges and change, you'll get awesome opportunities come your way
7:38 Tip 4: Believe in your project
...before you can make other people believe in your project, you need to make them believe in you. And in order to do that, you need to be convinced, confident and happy that your business or project is awesome and will do amazing things.
9:16 Tip 5: Take the pressure off yourself
...strongly consider working part time on your project to start with so that you can work and cover your living costs. Because it usually takes time for an enterprise to establish itself and gain traction. You don't want to be stressed about your bills while you go through this.
