Behavior problems in preschool?

Yep, we’ve got that.

It’s pretty much reached epidemic proportions here in the U.S.

I get almost daily emails from teachers and program directors struggling with everything from biting and chair throwing to swearing and climbing on tables to running out of the classroom.

I have taught thousands of early childhood educators through my trainings and talks and have had thousands more download my No More Challenging Behavior Cheatsheet.

They email me to say thank you and indicate regularly how desperate they are for information, support, and perhaps most importantly....hope.

My unique vantage point on this is perhaps due to the fact that I have been following this problem for decades. I've done research on how to promote the inclusion of children who exhibit behavioral challenges, and I have carved out a niche where I am devoted, full time, to helping teachers and programs with these issues.

So who am I? My name is Barb O’Neill, Ed.D.

I’m the founder of Transform Challenging Behavior, a training and consulting business that helps early childhood professionals develop the confidence, skills, and systems to prevent challenging behavior and set children up for success.

All of my experience and expertise comes together in The Transform Challenging Behavior Online Conference as we take a broad conceptual view on the factors contributing to behavior challenges and dive into inspiring stories and innovative practical strategies. I’ll guide participants in taking a reflective, strengths-based approach as we learn from a carefully curated team of speakers with diverse areas of expertise. This is about nurturing the curiosity to bring this knowledge to what everyone’s talking about: challenging behavior, preK expulsions, and what we can do about it. I’d love for you to join us.

My carefully curated team of speakers inspire and delight with their stories and facts interwoven with strategies, strategies, strategies. There are so many gems and takeaways that we can’t help but start to think differently...and to think about how to share that with our colleagues or supervisees or a child’s parent.

Some of the topics we'll be exploring include:

- trauma informed practices in ECE
- using puppets for social-emotional learning
- how to prevent biting in your classroom
- what Montessori can teach us about behavior
- challenging behavior in dual language learners
- music tricks for preventing challenging behavior
- tantrum do's and don'ts
- reducing implicit bias and racial justice in ECE
- creative drama as challenging behavior prevention
- avoid preK expulsion with mindfulness practices
- challenging behavior in autistic children
- what's storytelling got to do with challenging behavior?
- CLASS research and insights on behavior
- prevent challenging behavior at circle time
- transforming challenging behavior in toddlers

and much much more...

Each of the speakers says in their own way that we need to help teachers stop seeing “challenging behavior” as a problem.

We need to help practitioners shift their mindset. Get better grounded in child development. Be ever hopeful.
