10 Real or Fake?
So up first on today’s list we’ll explore some video that was just sent in to the team that, to be honest with you – we’re not exactly sure what to think about it. Before we jump into it, how much do you know about mermaids? Yeah, those mermaids – the half human woman, and half fish – that supposedly the secluded depths of the vast oceans. Tales of these women with tails – see what I did there – are spoken throughout numerous cultures, including the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa. With all that said, check out this clip – that was captured in an unknown location. This is supposedly the mythical mermaid, laying alone on the shore, basking under the sun as she appears to take a nap. Check out the detail in the tail, and the way that it flickers up and down.
9 The Dogfish
So up next we’ve got another marine animal that was actually recently discovered and comes with a look that – to be completely honest – comes straight out of a cartoon. It’s called Genie’s dogfish, and its eyes are some of the coolest things you can find in the animal world! And get this, it was just discovered as recently as July 2018! Now, despite the huge and beautiful eyes of this incredible species, it only grows out to about 20 to 28 inches long. Officially known as the squalus clarkae, these animals are native to the Gulf of Mexico. The live incredibly deep in the water, however, have become prone to fisherman using different tactics to secure their catch – which has caused animal conservationists to begin developing new plans to assist in preserving this unique and beautiful species.
8 100-Million-Year-Old Spider
So up next we’ll move on from mysterious creatures on earth today and rewind the tape for just a bit – where we have a fossil that’s pretty old. And, when I say pretty old – I really mean that it’s 100 million years old! Approximately, of course. Anyway, check this out. This is a new spider fossil discovery that – to the shock of scientists and researchers everywhere – still possessed remnants of its glowing eyes from all that time ago. How creepy is that?! Can you imagine going to your bathroom in the middle of the night without turning the light on, and just as you walk into the room and go to close the door you see a set of yellow, glowing eyes staring right back at you from your bathroom sink! Ugh, that would be disgusting!
7 The Harp Sponge
So up next we have another species of animal that I can almost guarantee that you’ve never seen before – and one that may be the weirdest shaped animal found anywhere on the planet. Dwelling on the depths of the ocean floor, this alien looking animal dons the appearance of a candelabra, and it feasts on the crustaceans floating around the bottom. What in the world – let’s be honest – how many of you all would put one of these in your fish tank if you could!? Sometimes referred too as the ‘alien’ of the sea, I’m not sure we can top the weirdness this little guy has with the rest of today’s episode – but you can bet your bottom dollar that we’re sure gonna try!
