Norwegian brand Sweet Protection is entering a new territory next winter - the killingly competitive market of goggles.
We take a good look on their top model called "Interstellar" which hits stores in the fall of 2019. Dan from Sweet has developed the goggles and guides us through all we need to know. The goggle is designed for freeriding. This goggle features a both mechanic and magnetic lock mechanism called "ExcenterLock Lens Change", the goggle fram is carbon reinforced and the lens is RIG-technology which is Sweet Protections solution to make the vision contrast enhanced without distorting the colors.
There is a big lens program for different conditions, all together 8 lenses where 5 are RIG-technology.
The Interstellar goggle with lens RIG Amethyst is priced 199 €, and the same fram with two lenses (RIG Amethyst Light and RIG Topaz or RIG Sapphire) is at 250 €.
Other frames from Sweet Protection this first winter of 2019/2020 will be Firewall (everyday use, all mountain) and Clockwork (race).
Sweet´s take on the whole goggle project is simple, their philosophy is that goggles also are a part of a skiers protective equipment. Sweet has been making great helmets, and other protective stuff for skiers for a long time and takes all that knowledge in to their new goggle adventure. Oh, did we mention that the lenses are bullet proof? The lenses has been rigorously tested by shooting different projectiles (ball bearing, shaped projectile) at different speeds (608 -720km/) and angles.
