This poem is for those that feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. Now this can be from chronic illness or any situation in life. I hope this can lift some of your spirits today as Tuesday begins. This is about needing yourself in the battle of life.
I Need Me:
You say..
I’m flawed
I’m wrong
I’ve changed
Ain’t the same
So, why’s this face in my mirror again today?
Why is it the same one I saw yesterday?
Is it my mind that's the issue?
Grab another tissue
Pat those tears away
As I listen to what they say
Hair ain’t the right way
“Fix it and smile” paint that fakeness upon my face
This ain’t workin' today
They can see through the lie
“That I’m just fine”
Do I give you my time
If your just spitting a line
That ain’t me
Not for a second did I want to be
Settling for less then I deserve
Waiting to be heard
“Sorry do not disturb”
But yet I wait
Ring, ring
Just to hear “she ain’t a thing”
You wait for the sting
Taking shots at my personality
Like if it’s supposed to bother me
Sure you rattled the cage
But there’s more to me then what I’ve made
Up for you to see
So I ain’t got time
For all your BS
This is a life test
You failed
And you failed miserably
You ain’t who I need
I need me
