The Prime Minister welcomed MPs and ministers including former education secretary Nicky Morgan, solicitor-general Robert Buckland, and key figures from the European Research Group including Jacob Rees-Mogg, Steve Baker and Iain Duncan Smith. Mrs May has ordered civil servants to “test the workability” of the alternatives to the backstop proposal put together by North West Hampshire MP Kit Malthouse which include using technological solutions instead of infrastructure at the Irish border.
