A baby born the size of a HOSPITAL NEEDLE at just 23 weeks has defied one in a million odds to survive.
Care worker Hanna Rose, 25, and her partner, Daniel Bownes, 27, were shocked when son George was born more than three months premature in July after Hanna suddenly went into labour.
The tiny youngster, from Worksop, Notts, weighed just 1lbs 5oz [700g] when he was born one week before the legal abortion limit and was so small his skin was translucent and he was the same size as a hypodermic hospital syringe.
But despite doctors telling the couple George would die on FIVE separate occasions after he suffered four bouts of sepsis and meningitis – leading them to even receive a final blessing by a hospital vicar – the tot has defied the odds to be discharged from hospital earlier this year after 26 weeks in hospital.
