We stopped by the Keeley Electronics booth at Winter NAMM 2019 to take a look at their newest pedals: DDR (Drive/Delay/Reverb), ECCOS Neo-Vintage Tape Delay, Fuzz Bender and Synth-1.
The Keeley DDR combines Drive, Delay and Reverb into one pedal unit, making it the perfect solution for cleaning up your pedal board without sacrificing tone. In the DRIVE section you can choose between two styles of OD: Crunch or Lead. Moving to the WET section you can choose between modern or vintage voiced Delays and Reverbs. A Vintage/Modern Switch allows you to switch between Analog or Digital for delay and Spring or Plate for reverb. There's even an effects loop to insert your effects of choice between the Drive or Wet sections.
Moving onto the ECCOS, you find a versatile delay pedal that covers everything from simple clean repeats to a fresh new sound where you get tape-flanged trails on your guitar. This gives you plenty of space and motion for your repeats, minus the pitch modulation often associated with vintage-styled delays. At its heart, ECCOS is an incredibly high-fidelity, 24-bit DP platform with stereo in and out, presets, remote-switchability and expression control.
Next in our demo is the Fuzz Bender. The Keeley Fuzz Bender is built on a three transistor platform, fusing the high-gain qualities of silicon transistors with the smooth-toned quality of germanium transistors. The Fuzz Bender features an active EQ allowing you to sculpt huge, aggressive fuzz tones. The Fuzz Bender is capable of more than 20dB of boost at both 100Hz and at 10K Hz, allowing you to dial in low-end roar or high-end buzz. Keeley's design also features a Gate Control. This control allows you to create glitchy sounds, creating effects similar to that of a dying battery in an old pedal.
The last pedal in our demo is the Synth-1. The Synth-1 allows you to create fuzzed-out synth waves that'll cut through any mix. The one-note generator has a Filter Control to allow you to control the overall tone of the waveform. To control the swell of the note, simply adjust the Attack knob. Finally, the Blend control gives you the ability to adjust the mix of your natural guitar tone with that of the pedal. You can also use an expression pedal to control the Filter, giving you wah-like control of Synth 1.
