It was a Mackley family tradition every xmas / new year to go from our home city of Christchurch to Tahuna Beach , Nelson, and every time we went through this tunnel dad would blow the car horn for the kids. Dad has recently been permanently put into a Dementia care home. He will never pass through this tunnel again. As kids growing up, Geoffrey, Richard and Steven, we had the best mum and dad ever ... this is my New Year 160 decibel train horn salute to Dad.
