Following yesterday’s Tip of having a marketing mindset of abundance and opportunities, today I discuss the marketing mindset that leverages the real power of social media. A mindset of sharing and engagement.

When considering social media as part of your marketing strategy embrace its 2 key relationship building strengths – sharing and engagement.
Social media is great for sharing.
A client can share the celebration of a milestone - such as a promotion, the birth of a grandchild, a trip overseas, or even their favourite Italian restaurant – whatever matters to them.
For advisors it’s great to know what is happening with key clients.
This provides the opportunity to engage them.
Congratulate them.
Commiserate with them.
Like and share their posts.
But essentially - get involved at a personal level. Stay front of mind. Engage - but don’t go in viewing each interaction as an opportunity to do a sales pitch.
Most advisers admit they don’t engage enough with existing clients – here’s a great opportunity to do so. Often advisors lament that clients haven’t told them about decisions the client has made where the adviser could have been consulted. That’s what happens when you are not engaging with them on a regular basis. Out of sight is out of mind. How many opportunities to provide advice have you missed out on?
Sharing extends to prospective clients by using education based marketing to publish content on-line which can be accessed by prospective clients who are outside your current networks. Plenty of new clients are generated through advisors sharing content.
Alongside engaging with clients and prospects. Advisors can also share on social media. This can include:
o An article written by an advisor that adds value to a category of clients.
o Announce the appointment of a new employee
o Advise clients of a new service or area of advice that is now available.
o Ask clients for feedback and suggestions.
With every response by a client or an on-line viewer – a like, a share – thank them.
Every advisor has control over how they interact with clients and prospects on-line.
To successfully market and promote your advice, have a mindset which views the Internet and social media networks as an essential means of sharing and engaging with both existing and prospective clients.
