Sea workers protest exploitation by shipping firms

Sea workers have petitioned the government over alleged exploitation by shipping firms. The workers claim the ship contractors are paid poorly by foreign shipping lines. They also want parliament to provide a better legislative mechanism for the employment of more Kenyan citizens as opposed to foreigners within the countries territorial waters, if the country is to realise the benefits of the blue economy.
