Ten central trade unions will launch a two-day nationwide protest on January 8 and 9 to condemn the anti-labour and anti-trade policies promoted by the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
Organisations like the AITUC, CITU, HMS, AIUTUC, TUCC, AICCTU, along with employees of banks and insurance companies and BSNL, would participate in the protest.
The strike is also likely to affect the KSRTC and BMTC bus services in Bengaluru.
Cab services like OLA and Uber have decided only to give moral support to the bandh.
Cab services will not be affected due to the bandh.
The strike has been called demanding withdrawal of Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 2017, to protect the transport sector business and demanding implementation of social security act for unorganised labourers.
