That’s according to former Premier League hero Stuart Pearce. Tottenham's return to Premier League action this Sunday in a huge game with Liverpool. When the two sides last met, Liverpool ousted Spurs 2-1 at Wembley in a fairly one-sided game. Son, who hit top form late in the season, has been one of Tottenham’s best players in the last couple of years. This season, the Korean forward has 11 Premier League goals, one goal off his season-best tally of 12. Tottenham have a busy end of the season to come as they continue to fight for their place in the top four. They also have important Champions League exploits - as they prepare for a mega-tie with Manchester City in the quarter finals. And despite the impact that Harry Kane has on Tottenham, Pearce believes Son will prove to be their most important player towards the end of the current campaign. “I think it will be Son [as their key player until the end of the season],” Pearce told Sky Sports News. “I think he has been brilliant. He started the season fairly slowly, but the more he has got into his stride, his goals and his energy. "He offers Tottenham something they haven't got. “A player that has got real pace and can run away from you. And an eye for a goal as well. I think he is crucial.” Spurs were considered to be in the title race around December time after they briefly leapfrogged Manchester City. City had lost crucial games to Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Leicester, allowing Tottenham to jump ahead of them. But a 3-1 loss at home to Wolves scuppered any faint chances they had of keeping up with both Liverpool and City - the two sides who are separated by just two points at the top of the league. After Spurs’ game with Liverpool this Sunday, they come up against Palace, who they were knocked out of the FA Cup by, in midweek.
